In their own words, The Acid Ballet is a "gang you can't help but be spellbound by, both visually and aurally." This band breaks the mold of the motivational garbage occupying rock headlines these days. They're out on a mission to dirty up the word again, and that's something I can definitely get behind! They have a captivating sound and experience that will shake your soul. Here's a little chat with had with the band back in December!
LJ DeWitt: You guys seem to take influence from a lot of older rock bands. If you could write a song with any musician, dead or alive, who would it be? Spectre Spectre: David Bowie, without a shadow of a doubt. Dagon Attarno: Rob Zombie. DD: Probably Frank Carter, in the Orchestra Of Wolves era. LJ: Is there a song you've ever heard and wished you had written it yourself? Spectre: "Heartbreak Hotel", by Elvis Presley. Some songs will live forever, and penning one of them will always be the ultimate goal of any song writer. Total immortality. Dagon: No. Rize LeStrange: ... DD: "Push" by The Cure, but you can never ask me why. LJ: Out of your own songs, which is your favorite to play live? Spectre: I have bad relationships with all the songs we play live, even the covers. I love them, but singing them live feels like a personal exorcism every time. It's not a pleasant experience, but it's a cleansing and necessary one. Rize: ... Dagon: "Bride". DD: Our upcoming single, we can't give anything away but playing it really gets my blood boiling.
LJ: With 2015 coming to a close, is there anything you can tell me about your plans for the New Year? Spectre: The next step, that's all you can say about it really. Rize: ... Dagon: No comment. DD: Just keep watching. LJ: Where do you hope to be in your career a year from now? Spectre: Still doing what we love, and being the monster that we are. Rize: ... Dagon: We'll see. DD: Fucking your mum. LJ: Finally, is there anything you'd like your fans and potential listeners to know? Spectre: To our extended family - thank you for your continued support. Come see us live, and we'll make our appreciation known. To potential listeners, don't bother because we'll kill your relationship with your parents. Rize: End. Dagon: I don't know. DD: Rice gets boring after a while.
